Local Color is Don Music – Audio Collage, Broken Beat, Cut-Ups, Glitch Hop, Mash-Ups, Nerd Core, Reclaimed Sound, and Turntablism.

In sculpture, local color refers to the raw materials used that remain unpainted in the completed work. In painting, the term refers to the unmodified natural color of an object. Local Color is the new sound collage project from Madison, Wisconsin art hooligan Donald J. Swadley, aka Don Music. Don’s “local color” is repurposed sound.

Each track is digitally cut and paste together, painstakingly, one piece at a time. Don Music’s meticulously extracted textures and dialogue are sutured back together bit by bit, unadulterated, in their natural state. Don Music builds sonic sculptures by reassembling sound with the passion of a mad scientist. No sampler. No multi-track looping.
